Basement Waterproofing Service Areas Around Philadelphia, PA

Basement requests are welcome from anywhere in Philadelphia, PA and from five neighboring townships in Delaware, Montgomery and Bucks Counties. Each request goes to one independent local contractor, who comes out and writes up an estimate; this referral service does no basement work of its own.

Where This Service Reaches

Philadelphia, a combined city and county, sits at the center: Northeast Philadelphia, South Philadelphia, West Philadelphia, the river wards and everything between, from Fishtown to Roxborough. Inside the city, L&I licenses contractors and issues permits, and PWD's 24/7 Water Emergency Hotline at (215) 685-6300 takes reports of water coming up through floor drains.

Past the city line, each township below is a separate municipality with its own code office and its own contractor registration or licensing. None of them is part of Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania's statewide home improvement registration applies in every one.

Town Pages

  • Upper Darby, PA. About 7 miles west of Center City in Delaware County, across Cobbs Creek from West Philadelphia. It is the county's largest township, with plenty of pre-war rowhouses and twins, and the township licenses contractors itself.
  • Lower Merion, PA. About 8 miles northwest in Montgomery County, taking in Main Line villages such as Ardmore and Bala Cynwyd. Home values are the highest of the five, and the township issues its own contractor license.
  • Cheltenham, PA. About 7 miles north in Montgomery County, founded in 1682 and home to Elkins Park and Wyncote. Tookany Creek floods recur there, and sanitary sewer calls go to Aqua rather than the township.
  • Abington, PA. About 12 miles north in Montgomery County, where about 77% of homes are owner-occupied, the highest share of the five. It sits at the headwaters of three watersheds, and every contractor working there registers with the township.
  • Bensalem, PA. About 15 miles northeast in Bucks County, across Poquessing Creek from Northeast Philadelphia. Its homes are the newest of the five, with a median build year of 1975, and contractors are licensed with the township before permits are issued.

PWD's hotline and backwater-valve program serve Philadelphia only. In a township, ask your own township or sewer authority about sewer backups.

Still Not Sure?

Close to one of these lines without being inside it? Nearby places such as Darby Borough, Lansdowne, Narberth, Jenkintown, Conshohocken and Springfield have no pages here. Run the area check or send your address through the form, and you'll get a straight answer on whether a contractor can help.

If one can, that contractor gets in touch directly to set a time and later leaves a written estimate. Contractors may pay this site to advertise; a request costs you nothing and earns you nothing.
